NordicTrack Commercial Treadmills are built for serious runners. Also, if your legs are long, a NordicTrack treadmill is the best running machine for you.

The NordicTrack Commercial Series is made up of powerful treadmills that can handle even the best marathoners. The Series is made up of the treadmill 1750, 2450, and the 2950.

Recently, we reviewed the 2450 indoor treadmill. For this article, our testers opted for the 1750 treadmill. Here is what we love about this model  and what we believe the manufacturer needs to improve on.

Frame: NordicTrack Commercial units are quite large. The 1750 treadmill measures about 81.25 by 39.25 by 71 inches; length, width and height. It dwarfs our top pick.

Now because of its size, you have to set aside enough room for it. The large frame is made of steel, real steel. It is super sturdy. It is coated with rust resistant paint so you can workout without worry about sweating on your equipment.

The treadmill weighs 309 lbs. I weigh about 140lb and honestly I didn’t try to push this machine. It’s heavy. Yes, it has the wheels and it folds, but 309 pounds is still heavy for most athletes.

I recommend you assemble it where it can stay permanently or until you have to move houses or something.

Now, the main advantage to its size is its sturdy to allow for interval training. Also, it has a powerful motor equipped to handle this.

Motor: In my years of cardio training I’ve found that treadmills with high chp offer the best in terms of preset programs, and other features. The 1750 running treadmill comes with a powerful 3.75 commercial grade motor; kinda like what you’ll find in gym treadmills.

The self-cooling drive system will run as long as you are working out. Together with the 2.5-inch precision wheels, it ensures the deck runs smoothly and the treadmill does not vibrate.

It allows for top speed of up to 12 mph which is enough for most athletes.  The motor allows for smooth speed changes and the treadmill picks up speed fast. With its speed and incline, you can’t go wrong with this unit.

Running belt: The 1750 treadmill has one of the widest and longest running belts. Measuring 60 inches by 22 inches, even our tallest team members had an awesome time on this running treadmill.

You don’t have to adjust your stride length. No uncomfortable workout experience. You can run full stride comfortably. Speaking of comfort, the NordicTrack 1750 treadmill is a gentle giant.

The running surface is equipped with Flex low impact tech that minimizes impact by about 40%. You can walk, run, and jog without worrying about your knees and back.

Console: The larger the machine, the more the high end features runners get to enjoy. Boasting of a wide, friendly console, the 1750 is equipped to mark sure workouts are as comfortable as possible.

This area features dual autobreeze workout fans to cool you so you can workout for longer, two 3-inch speakers for background music, tray for small items, and a 10-inch smart touchscreen.

The full-colored touchscreen allows you to monitor distance, time, speed, and calories burned. For pulse monitoring, this cardio training exerciser has built-in pulse sensors on the handles. It is not telemetry enabled.

On the left side of the display you’ll find incline and decline controls. The 1750 offers incline up to 15% and decline up to -3% which allows you to engage more muscles, burning more calories per minute. On the right side you’ll find speed control buttons.

Programs: The Nordictrack commercial 1750  comes with 40 preset programs. This is twice the number of programs on most treadmills. So, you can train for more than a month without repeating an exercise. How cool is that?

As a bonus, a great bonus if I may add, this training unit offers 1 year iFit family membership. Remember, our top pick offers 1 month trial for 1 runner. So, how does this work?

iFit family membership allows for up to 5 runner profiles so you can share the exerciser with your family. Also, everyone gets access to all iFit goodies for 1 year; that is the trainers, classes, routes, workout library and more.

If you enjoy what you see/experience, you can renew the membership. If not, you can still use the training equipment without the iFit fitness app.

For over 30 year, Proform, a US based company has produced hundreds of affordable home equipment. We recently looked at Proform treadmills with iFit here and the Proform 2000 is part of this series.

Frame: The Proform Smart Pro treadmill is the only treadmill that can hold a candle to the NordicTrack commercial 1750 above.

The frame comes in black and gray with a huge Proform logo on the side. The colors don’t stand out and unless you are looking for a pink treadmill, we found these colors okay.

This frame supports up to 300 lbs, same capacity as the NordicTrack Commercial 1750.

The Weslo Cadence G5.9i is an excellent mid-sized treadmill that strikes the perfect balance between performance and cost.

There is plenty to love about this treadmill from tech to its sturdiness. Here are a few features we love.

Frame: When put side to side with the Goplus 2 in 1 folding treadmill and the 1750 running exercise machine, this best treadmill for home is kind of in the middle in terms of size making it perfect for most homes.

Many people go for a mid-sized compact treadmill because it can accommodate runner of different heights which makes it perfect for a family.

It’s never easy recommending a budget treadmill because every treadmill has its pros and cons.

So, when we heard about the Ancheer 3.25 treadmill that supports up to 300 lbs and costs significantly lower than most mid-sized treadmills, we were intrigued.

Frame: Made from durable material, the steel frame is built to last for years. It is coated with scratch resistant and rust resistant paint; you can workout without worrying about sweat.

Measuring about 60 inches long by 27 inches wide and 49 inches high, you get a capable high quality treadmill without all the extra high end features that come with the big treadmill.

The frame is designed to fold so you can store it upright on a corner.

Deck: Like all the treadmills on this list, we loved how the treadmill feels underfoot. This ancheer treadmill’s running deck is made up of 7 layers.

The layering helps reduce noise as well as provide the right amount of cushion without sacrificing performance. We were impressed by the size of the running surface; an ultra-thin 47 by 17 inches.

The size is okay for most runners, but if you are tall a treadmill  such as the Proform 2000 is what you need.

This belt is powered by a 3.25 HP motor than allows for top speed up to 9 mph.

Console: The ancheer’s console is pretty similar to the Weslo G 5.9i running machine; simple and easy to use. It includes water bottle holders, a safety key and a very basic LCD monitor to check time and more. Very simple and easy to use.

Who Indoor Treadmills are best suited for

Who needs a treadmill? back in the early 2000s, if you wanted to lose some pounds there were two ways you could go about it. One, get some sneakers and run around your neighborhood or two, hit your local gym.

Though the second option was/is the best pick, most runners shied because of the membership costs.

Thankfully in the year  2020 and beyond we don’t have to worry about gym membership fees or cold winter days. We can exercise from the comfort of our homes.

Most fitness brands’ categories include compact equipment that don’t need much space. An indoor treadmill is best suited for the young, middle aged as well as the old. The best treadmill for home use costs anywhere from $300 to $2500.

The price often dictates the features. If you have decided to buy a treadmill for your home gym, these are the features you should be on the lookout for.

How to choose a treadmill

  • Construction material and durability

Someone said, “We eat with our eyes.” Let me add that we also buy with our eyes. Don’t be fooled by the sleek sexy treadmill exterior.

Some manufacturer may save on costs by using cheap material that easily rust and cannot support the indicated weight.

The components of your running machine that matter are the handrails, console, belt, and the skeleton.  These components should be made of steel, then your home gym treadmill will last for years.

A treadmill made of high quality material lasts longer, supports more weight and comes with more smart features.

  • Size of the frame

The size of the frame determines where you’ll use the treadmill. Machines with large frames, the Proform 2000 and NordicTrack Commercial 1750 are best suited for runners with garage gyms or something similar. If you are an empty nester, you could convert one of the rooms into a gym.

Then there are the best treadmill that are mid-sized such as the Sunny T7515, Ancheer, and Weslo G 5.9i. these are okay for apartments or living rooms because they can fold and are lightweight.

Lastly, we have the compact running machines such as Goplus. This small treadmill is folds completely flat for easy storage.

The size of the equipment dictates the size of the belt which in turn dictates who can use the treadmill. smaller treadmills such as the Goplus are ideal for short persons while larger exercisers can support even the tallest runners.

  • Motor capabilities

Before deciding how large the tread needs to be, you need to consider the motor’s capability. What type of exercises do you want to do? How long will you be using the machine?

Motors range from 1 HP to about 4.5 that is for home treadmills. A 1 HP motor treadmill is okay but only supports light exercising, mostly you can use it to walk or run lightly. With 2.0 – 2.5 HP treadmills, you can also use your fitness equipment to walk or run while treadmills with above 3.0 HP can support all types of exercises.

  • Running deck and speeds

Now, there are two things you need to keep in mind when looking at the belt; size and impact on knees.

Runner’s knee is a real issue most runners have to contend with. If you want to protect your joints, the belt should be well cushion. Always check that the manufacturer has integrated with belt with cushioning. for size, check for a belt that would accommodate your stride length without any issues.

The motor capacity determines the top speed of the treadmill. The best treadmills with powerful motors allow for speed 12 mph and can sustain long workouts. Treadmills with lower motor power offer speeds and are ideal for lighter exercises.

  • Length of warranty

There are numerous high tech components in treadmills. Plus, some treadmills require some assembling  and these moving parts may break.

Make sure you get a model  with a good warranty. It’s worth noting the lower the cost of the treadmill the shorter the warranty while the higher the cost the longer the warranty with some manufacturers offering lifetime warranties.

  • Price

The best treadmills vary in price. some brands offer treadmills that will set you back a few hundred bucks while others costs thousands.

A cheap treadmill is not necessarily a bad thing. Some manufacturers prefer offering equipment within this price range.

Just make sure the treadmill you pick is within your budget. Also, consider the features you need before choosing a trainer.

The pros and cons of buying the best treadmill for home

What are the pros and cons of a home treadmill?

Pros:
  • Exercise at home: When the weather can’t make up its mind in fall or the days are frigid cold, a treadmill is the right equipment. You can train at whatever time without worrying about temperatures outdoor.

  • Foldability: Unlike fitness equipment such as functional trainers, the best treadmills on this list fold to save space. This feature makes them ideal for home since most runners don’t have a lot of space to spare.
Cons
  • Short warranty: Though smaller treadmills are great for home use they often come with shorter warranty. We recommend you take extra care while moving your fitness equipment.
  • Not ideal for sculpting body. While treadmill are great for calorie burning the fact that they don’t target a specific muscles group means they cannot sculpt your body. This mean if you want sculpted arms go for arm bikes or hiit trainers.
